Novar ("we", "us", "our") operates the Novar mobile application (the "App"), a social learning platform offering educational reels, study content, quizzes, subjects, squads, live sessions, and AI-assisted learning. This Privacy Policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and your choices.

By using Novar you agree to this Policy.

Information We Collect

Account information. When you sign up we collect your name, email address, and authentication identifiers via Firebase Authentication, Google Sign-In, or Apple Sign-In. If you use Sign in with Apple's private relay, we receive a relay email.

Profile & learning activity. Content you create or interact with (posts, reels, playlists, quizzes, squads, study progress, follows, likes, comments) and usage data used to personalise your feed and recommendations.

Purchases & subscriptions. We process in-app purchases and auto-renewable subscriptions through the Apple App Store, Google Play, and Huawei AppGallery. We receive purchase confirmations and entitlement status; we do not collect or store your full payment card details — those are handled by the respective app store.

Device & technical data. Device model, operating system, app version, IP address, crash logs, and diagnostic data used to operate, secure, and improve the App.

AI features. When you use AI chat or AI video assistance, your prompts and related content are sent to our AI providers (including Google Gemini / Vertex AI) to generate responses.

How We Use Your Information

  • To provide, personalise, and improve the App and your learning experience.
  • To authenticate you and keep your account secure.
  • To process purchases, subscriptions, and our coin/download system.
  • To deliver notifications, live sessions, and relevant content or ads.
  • To detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, and technical issues.
  • To comply with legal obligations.

Subscriptions & Auto-Renewal

Paid plans are auto-renewable subscriptions billed through your app store account. They renew automatically at the stated price unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can manage or cancel subscriptions in your device's account settings. Use of the App is also governed by the applicable Terms of Use (EULA).

How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with:

  • Service providers that power the App — Google Firebase (auth, database, storage, functions, messaging), Cloudflare (content delivery), Typesense (search), ZEGOCLOUD (live streaming), and Google AI services — who process data on our behalf.
  • App stores (Apple, Google, Huawei) for purchases.
  • Other users, for content you choose to make public (profile, posts, reels, squad activity).
  • Authorities, where required by law or to protect rights, safety, and security.

Data Retention

We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the App. You can delete your account in-app, which removes or anonymises your personal data, subject to legal retention requirements.

Your Rights & Choices

  • Access, update, or delete your account and profile in the App.
  • Request account deletion (in-app account deletion flow) or reactivation.
  • Control notification permissions in your device settings.
  • Depending on your location (e.g. GDPR/POPIA), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or object to processing of your data. Contact us to exercise these.

Children's Privacy

Novar is intended for students. If you are under the age of majority in your country, please use the App with the involvement of a parent, guardian, or school. We do not knowingly collect data from children in violation of applicable law; contact us to remove such data.

Data Security

We use industry-standard measures including encryption in transit, Firebase security rules, and App Check to protect your data. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.

International Transfers

Your information may be processed on servers located outside your country. We take steps to ensure appropriate safeguards for such transfers.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. Material changes will be notified in the App or by updating the "Last updated" date above.
